What is Magic Key?
Developed for people who have upper body difficulties, this computer software permits the use of all the software of a normal computer.

How does Magic Key work?
A normal webcam connected to the computer captures the images of the user’s face. The software determines the place on the monitor intended by the user and places the cursor there. A wink is used to click the mouse buttons.

How can I write without using my hands?
By using a normal virtual keyboard placed in a corner of the screen, the user simply positions the cursor on the letter key and winks. The key is immediately sent to the active software.

Can I surf the Internet?
Yes, you can use any program installed in your computer. This includes word processing, e-mail, drawing programs, chat, and so on.

What is the target market of this software?
Everyone who has upper-body problems and cannot use, or has serious difficulty using, the keyboard and conventional computer mouse. You need only have control of your head movement.
The following groups will be particularly interested:
• Quadriplegics.
• Cerebral Palsy patients who cannot use their upper body but do have control over their head movement.
• Children with cerebral Palsy who could use this software in conjunction with other specific software that would help them learn shape concepts, like square, round, triangle, big and small or colors like white, black, yellow, red or even as an introduction to the written language.
• Patients with multiple traumas, in hospital or at home, who could be connected to the world through the computer and the Internet.

Does my head have to be in a steady position?
No, head movement is responsible for cursor movement. If your head does not move, the cursor remains in the same place.

Does the user’s head or body need to be hooked up?
No, it works from the images captured by the webcam.

Can head-to-monitor distance vary?
Your head should be at a normal distance from the monitor, but there is considerable tolerance within the established limits.

What equipment is needed?
You will need a computer that has USB 2.0. A Pentium 4 at 3.0 GHz is the recommended minimum. The remaining equipment is included in your Magic Key purchase..

Can I place the cursor on any pixel?
Yes. One of the biggest advantages of Magic Key is that, although it uses a normal webcam, the cursor can be placed exactly on a precise pixel, even with a monitor resolution of 1280 X 1024.

Does the computer slow down when using this software?
A Pentium 4 at 3.0 GHz uses approximately 11% of its capacity on this software, which has no measurable impact on the performance of other software.

Does Magic Key work for everyone?
Yes, but specific parameters may need to be set to personal abilities and physiognomy.

Does Magic Key work for people who wear glasses or contacts?
It does, although the glare from light sources facing the user must be avoided.

How much does Magic Key cost?
The price of Magic Key, including software and equipment is €600 + 5% tax.

How much does it cost to install?
If you pick up your order in Guarda, Portugal, there will be no instalment fees. If instalment is on-site, the fee is €150 + 21% tax with appropriate technical training.

What are the maintenance costs?
All the software upgrades carried out over the first 24 months, via software sent by Internet, are free. Technical assistance via e-mail, telephone or otherwise not requiring transportation is also free whereas transportation costs will be incurred in accordance with the official price table.

Is financing available for Magic Key?
